FitnessGenes is a disruptive start up in the healthcare space, having developed a platform that allows us to deliver personalised recommendations to our customers based on both their DNA and lifestyle. Our focus is preventative health, cutting through the noise in the marketplace to provide customers with useful, actionable advice and match them to the products and services that are most likely to help them achieve their fitness goals, based on scientific assessment.

The Role

Due to expansion of the company, there is a mixture of exciting greenfield and brownfield projects commencing this year. We are developing a new mobile app, B2B API solutions as well as revamping critical DNA analysis systems and frameworks.

Working as part of the software development team, you will help build these new features and products, as well as support the existing applications. We are looking to fill multiple vacancies, so a preference towards Fullstack, frontend or backend can be accommodated. The team is small and dynamic where everyone plays a crucial part in the development process.

Skills and Experience Required

Essential

  • Net 6 C# (or previous experience with .Net Core 2 and up)
  • JavaScript, CSS and HTML
  • SQL server & Entity framework
  • Experience with Agile Development and associated tools (Jira, confluence)
  • Experience with Git
  • Hands-on development and delivery experience over a mix of languages and technologies.
  • Familiarity with product and design lifecycles, and collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Experience with using backend APIs and optimising frontend performance
  • Experience contributing and working with shared code libraries
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to take ownership of tasks and gather requirements
  • Ability to solve complex coding challenges around performance and reusability while continuously improving code quality
  • An interest in learning new skills and collaborating on new technologies
  • Source code and application versioning

Desirable

  • CI / CD
  • TDD (xUnit etc)
  • JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js, Angular etc)
  • Experience of building applications in Azure (Azure App Service, Azure Monitoring, Azure DevOps – pipelines, Azure functions)

Hours:

Full time (37.5 hours). For the right candidate, part-time hours would also be considered.

33 days holiday a year, inclusive of any statutory bank/public holidays. Working hours are those necessary to undertake the role, usually Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm, but some weekend/evening work may occasionally be required. We are a family friendly business and flexible working will be considered.

Location:

We would expect at least part of your week to be spent working from our shared office space in Southbank, London or in Bicester, Oxfordshire. This role is open to remote working meaning you aren't required in the office 5 days a week. We would welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what pattern of working would suit their personal needs.
